Lasers and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) equipment can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions that your clients and patients will present with. To use this technology effectively and safely a high level of skill is needed.
Are you using a Class 3B or Class 4 Laser, or an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to offer any of the following treatments?
- Acne
- Hair reduction
- Red veins and blemishes
- Skin rejuvenation
- Surgical procedures
- Tattoo removal
- Etc
If so your clinic must have the following produced by a Certificated LPA (Laser Protection Adviser):
- Risk Assessment
- Local Rules
All clinicians and therapists using Lasers and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) equipment must have training as follows:
- Core of Knowledge Safety Training
- Manufacturer / Clinical Training
Treatment aspects to be considered include:
- Contra-indications
- Delicate anatomy / inappropriate treatment sites
- Drug-induced photosensitivity
- Eye damage
- Hyper-pigmentation
- Hypo-pigmentation
- Purpura
- Scarring
- Skin burns
- Unrecognised malignancies (or premalignant conditions) at the treatment site
